This unique film follows the work of a detective in modern Zambia who is hired to look for the missing body of an executed religious
figure named 'Joshua'. We get a glimpse into Zambian life as we follow Tembo through a series of interviews leading to an exciting final meeting calling for Tembo to make a choice about “truth”.
Timothy Zulu
Timothy Zulu has the starring role as James Tembo in the film. Timothy is the classic Dickens character set in
modern Zambia. His parents passed away and the family sent him and his younger brothers and sisters to the
village to stay with relatives. This allowed the uncles in the family to distribute his father's wealth as they saw
fit. Timothy watched the way he and his family were treated in the village and made a decision to bring them back to the town of Mazabuka. This move was not welcomed by the
family, but he was stubbornly committed to keeping his brothers and sisters in town. They camped out at
their father's house and Timothy took on the role of provider using his skills to provide skirting the boundaries
of what is right. His education stopped and it was many years later that he wandered into church with us.
Timothy responded to the church environment by making a break with his past and moving into a new future.
He made a commitment to continue his education on his own. I would find him studying and reading on his own. His
English became better and better. He was always there to help in any project we undertook. He had attained a little
knowledge in many different fields over his years of providing for himself and family. His gifting became evident to the church.
He was a natural speaker and actor in our skits. He was a gifted singer and song leader. All of these skills came together when
he would minister at funeral homes. He combined his singing with his knowledge of the bible to bring comfort to the grieving family.
It is the combination of the knowledge of the hardness of life and his natural desire to help
people through difficult times that fit him to be a leader in times of difficulty.
Pauline Mubika
Pauline Mubika plays Liz in the film. We were preparing to start filming the bar scene. We were waiting for Pauline to come out from where she was being made up by my daughter Audra. So everyone is set up and out walks Liz in her short skirt. You could have dropped a pin and heard it quite clearly. The reason is that Pauline, and her sisters for that matter, come across as stately princesses. Pauline was able to don the skirt and come out and totally captivate everyone there and do an excellent job.
Pauline took off for Livingstone as we finished filming to start a nursing program. She will do well in anything she puts her mind to.
Pamela Mubika
Pamela Mubika plays Mary in the film. Her character is based upon Mary Magdalene. Her commentary combined with the camera work and editing makes the scenes from Shimungalu, the fishing village, like walking the shores of Galilee. She does a great job in the film. She is involved in many projects around town, some that pay, some that don’t. She teaches at Lifeplan High School as well as working with the reincarnation of the Mazabuka Times, a local newspaper.
